Who would’ve thought?

Who would’ve thought?
The bane of human existence present in that tiny body
Pain her so much without us knowing
Falling apart
Slowly
Getting rounder
And not a sound, neither a yelp nor a bark
To warn us how excruciatingly it hurt
A process that stretched for years
But leaving only three days for goodbyes
Four months have already passed without
Her spirit
Still lies in my heart
Every day, I see memories of her
Here, her comfy bed by the living room
There, her bowl of food
The doorbell would ring and I expect to hear her voice
The happy wag of her tail
The way the ground shook when she ran
Her multitude of fears especially on nights of storms
But I miss her most of all
Because she was a good girl
The elegy written for writer's craft. It's about my dog passing away. I miss her so much
